Arlene (Young) Gore

MONTROSE — Arlene (Young) Gore passed away peacefully at the San Juan Living Center in Montrose, Colo. She was born in Flagler, Colo. to George and Lena Young and grew up with her seven siblings. As a young girl, Arlene enjoyed horses and the registered Hereford cattle her father raised. She was active in 4-H in the community of Simla, Colo. and later enjoyed barrel racing in the Steamboat Springs area on her beloved horse Wimpy. Arlene loved working at Harwig’s Saddlery and Western Wear in Steamboat Springs where she had many wonderful friends. When she moved to Montrose with her husband Joel, Arlene was very proud to work at the Montrose Taco Bell for six years during their first years in business. Arlene loved to keep up with current political events, crochet, do ceramics and she was an avid John Elway and over all Bronco fan.
Arlene was preceded in death by her first husband, Glen Schuster of Simla, Colo., and her second husband, Joel Gore of Montrose, Colo.; her parents, George and Lena Young of Simla; her sisters, Mildred Stoner of Seattle, Wash. and Velma Wolverton of Simla, Colo.; and her brothers, Robert, Gilbert and Harold Young.
She is survived by her brother, Dick Young of Simla, Colo., his children Patsy Young (deceased), Marvin Young of Dodge City, Kan. and Dixie and Dole Johnson of Monterey, Mexico; Dale and Helen Young of Colorado Springs, Bruce and Kay Young of Newton, Kan.; Gregg and Sybille Young of Geneva, Switzerland; Steve and Kim Young of Holyoke, Colo.; Velma Wolverton’s children Donald of Denver, Colo., Billy of Idaho, Phillip Wolverton (deceased) Carol Porter of Tacoma, Wash.; Robert Young’s children Kandice Schwarz of Montrose, Colo.; Kerry Young of Germany; Robby Young of Kremmling, Colo.; Harold Young’s daughter Cindy Young and their respective families. Arlene has always been considered a cherished member of the Joel Gore Family: Joel’s daughter Shawna and George Rhea of Hinesville, Ga.; Linda (Gore) McKinney of Moab, Utah, Harold Gore of Sanger, Calif., Wendell Gore of Paonia, Colo. and their respective spouses and families.
A celebration of Arlene’s life will be held for her family and friends at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010, at Crippin Funeral Home, 802 E. Main, Montrose. Lunch will be served following the service at the DMEA Headquarters, 11925 6300 Rd, Montrose. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be sent to Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Colorado, P.O. Box 1804, Montrose, CO 81402.
