Roy Faussone

MONTROSE — Roy Faussone, age 93, lifetime Montrose resident, took the Lord’s hand when he called on Feb. 14, 2011, at his home. Roy was born Oct. 15, 1917, to Louis P. and Teresa (Maggaino) Faussone in Montrose. Here he was raised and received his education, graduating from Montrose High School in 1938. Roy was a farmer and rancher his entire life and served many in the Montrose area. At the age of 23, he enlisted and served his country in the United States Army from 1940 to 1945. Roy returned to Montrose where he continued to reside and farm throughout his entire life. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Montrose Producers Co-op, lifetime member of the Montrose Elk’s Lodge #1053. Roy enjoyed working with his hands. He would spend time in his garden and enjoyed growing fruits and vegetables.
Surviving family members, include his brother, Louis F. Faussone of Montrose; nephew, Larry E. Burgess and his wife, Charlotte of Redlands, Calif. He was preceded in death by his sister, Edyth Faussone Burgess in 2000, and sister-in-law, Nora Faussone, in 1994. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Colorado, in memory of Roy Faussone, P. O. Box 1804, Montrose, CO 81402. A Memorial Mass will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2011, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Montrose with Father Mike Walker officiating. The service will conclude at the church.
