Dorothy M. Days

Dorothy Mezera Days, 93, passed away peacefully at the San Juan Living Center in Montrose, CO on June 11, 2012. Dorothy was born on December 11, 1918 in Eastman, Wisconsin to Frank Mezera and Clara Sprosty. She married Rudolph Days in 1951 whom she met while working in South America. They traveled around the world working for the U.S. Foreign Service until they settled in 1964 in Washington, DC. She lost her dear husband in 1997.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers and three sisters. Among Dorothy’s survivors are her daughter Lynn (Paul) Lewis of Montrose, CO and her sons Alan (Carol) Days of Manhattan, KS, Richard (Katheleen) Days of Los Angeles, CA and Andrew (Rosalie) Days of Bethesda, MD. She is also survived by her siblings: Harold Mezera, Frank Mezera, Rose Trautsch and Catherine Steger, all of Wisconsin as well as four grandchildren: Daniel Lewis, Amy Fretz, Matthew and Rachael Days; and two great-grandchildren: Remona Lewis and William Fretz. Her quiet presence, dry sense of humor and love of gardening will be missed.
The funeral mass will be at Blessed Sacrament Church in Washington, DC on Wednesday, June 20, 11:00 am; visitation at the church’s Duffy Chapel is on Tuesday, June 19 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Arrangements are by DeVol Funeral Home, Washington DC. And Crippin Funeral Home & Creamtory, Montrose, Co.
