Dorothy Elaine Colombo

Dorothy Elaine Colombo, age 86, of Paradox, Colo., passed away on her birthday, Dec. 6, 2011 at her home. She was born Dec. 6, 1925 to Louis H. and Emma (Proctor) Waggoner in Paradox Valley, Colo. Dorothy was raised and received her education in Paradox. She married Dean Hopper, but later married Elmer Colombo on Feb. 12, 1947 in Montrose, and have been married for 64 years. Dorothy went on to beauty school and became a licensed beautician, and also cooked for the school district in Paradox. She loved spending time with her grandkids. She enjoyed the outdoors and fishing. A favorite past time was sewing, her flowers and gardening.
Surviving family members include her husband, Elmer of the family home; children Raymond (Mary) Hopper of Price, Utah, Margie Petty of Paradox, Roy (Cindy) Colombo of Gateway, Colo; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Dorothy was preceded in death by her twin sister at birth, her parents, one brother and two sisters. A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011 at 11:00 am at Paradox Community Church with burial to follow at the Paradox Cemetery in Paradox. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Paradox Community Church, in memory of Dorothy, or to the donor’s choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, Montrose, Colo.
