Wilbur C. Cless
June 5, 1920 - March 28, 2012
Wilbur C. Cless passed away on March 28, 2012 at the age of 91. He was born on June 5, 1920 to Charles and Laura Cless in Montrose where he was raised and lived for most of his life. Wilbur attended school a Coal Creek Elementary and Montrose High School. His death was the result of complication from a broken hip.
On August 15, 1939 Wilbur married Faye L. Johnson. They celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary last year. During his life Wilbur mined uranium, in Uravan; worked in a gas station; custom combined for nine years; and worked at the Chevrolet, Oldsmobile, and Cadillac dealership for thirty-three years. He retired as the sales manager in 1982. Wilbur and Faye remodeled existing and built new homes on the side as well as managing several rentals. His favorite hobbies were fishing, hunting and jeeping in the San Juan Mountains. Wilbur was a lifetime member of the Elk's Club and a member of the Montrose Christian Church.
Wilbur is survived by his wife; Faye L. Cless, his son and daughter-in-law, Dwain and Dawn Cless, his graddaughter, Du Anne Cless; his grandson, Devin Cless. Nephews Ronnie (Joyce) Cless, Leo (Mary Lou) Cooper, Dick Cooper, Bob (Paty) Johnson, Bill J. Johnson. Nieces Betty Pixler, Cheryl Young, Gayle Anderson and husban Manny, Phyllis Alleman, Iris (Ben) Franklin, Linda (Tom) Harriman, and Barbara Reisbeck.
Wilbur was grateful for the special care that he received from his nieces Cheryl Young and Betty Pixler.
Wilbur was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Laura Cless, his brother Harold and wife Gertrude Cless and his sister Mildred and husband Lee Cooper.
Arrangements are being handled by Crippin Funeral Home. A service will be held Saturday, March 31, at 2pm at the Montrose Christian Church, 2551 Sunnyside Road. Burial will be the Grand View Cemetery immediately following the services. A reception for family and friends will be held at the Montrose Christian Church after the burial.
