Mildred 'Midge' Carriere
April 27, 1912 - October 19, 2011
Mildred( Midge) Carriere died peacefully at her home in Norwood, Colorado, on October 19, 2011; at the age of 99, with her family by her side.
Midge was born on April 27th, 1912 in Lake View Colorado to Thomas and Candace Irving. Midge spent her childhood in Lake View and Pandora; her married years in Rico, Pandora, and Telluride; moving to Norwood in 1980.
Midge married Wilbert ( Bud) Carriere on June 10th, 1929. They were blessed with five wonderful children. Wilbert ( Bud) Carriere of Cortez, Colorado; Robert ( Moe) Carriere of Norwood, Colorado; Tom Carriere (Margot Bradley) of Denver, Colorado; Ron Carriere of Denver, Colorado; and Charlotte Royer (Johnny Royer) of Norwood, Colorado.
Midge was a life-member of theTelluride Rebekah Lodge and a member of the Norwood Southern Baptist Church. Midge proudly served as Telluride’s town clerk for 22 years.
Midge enjoyed fishing from the bank and from the boat, crocheting, sewing, needle work, canning, making wreaths, baking, bowling, watching her kids and grandkids play sports, and challenging anyone to a good game of cribbage.
She is survived by her brother Theron Irving (Napa, California), her sons and daughter, 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces.
Midge was preceded in death by her husband Bud, five brothers, one sister, and two grandchildren.
Her gracious spirit, smile, and love will be missed by all who knew her.
