Lola Irene (Casebier) Austin

OLATHE — Lola Irene (Casebier) Austin, age 82, of Olathe, Colo., passed away May 24, 2011 at the Delta County Memorial Hospital.
Lola was born Nov. 7, 1928 to James Edward and Vinnie Lyla (Smith) Casebier at Pea Green, Colo. She was raised at the old home place, four miles southwest of Pea Green. Lola attended Pea Green school, first through the eighth grades, either walking or riding a horse. She graduated from Olathe High School in 1946. Lola married Billy Bland Austin on Nov. 7, 1948. At the age of 48, she went on to nursing school and received her Licensed Practical Nurse certificate in 1978. Lola worked at Colorow Care Center for 15 years and was a blessing to many families.
Surviving family members include three sons, James Edward Austin, Billy Bland Austin Jr. and Russell Don Austin; two stepchildren, Robert W. D’Augustine and Betty Jean Austin Freeman; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Lola was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Billy Austin; and her brothers and sisters. Lola was known for her outgoing personality and her willingness to always help those in need. She will be greatly missed by many.
A funeral service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 27, 2011, at Crippin Funeral Home Chapel. A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow the service at Pea Green Cemetery in Pea Green.
