Charles Courtney Antrim

Charles Courtney Antrim, 72, died Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011, peacefully at San Juan Living Center surrounded by loving friends.
Born and raised in St. Louis, MO., he attended St. Louis Country Day School and graduated from Clayton High. He attended Westminster College in Fulton, MO., as a pre-med student, was published for his research in Opthamology, and graduated from Washington University in St. Louis.
In the family tradition of his grandfather, Charles Ambrose Antrim, Founder of Antrim Lumber Co., Courtney was an accomplished woodworker and builder. He worked his trade in Evergreen, Aspen and Telluride before settling with his wife, Helen Beale (deceased in 1998) on their farm in Montrose in 1979. Along with building and farming, Courtney loved sailing, fishing, duck hunting and raised Labrador Retrievers. He built and operated the first Sporting Clays course in Glenwood Springs, and operated Glenarm Sporting Clays on his land in Montrose.
He is survived by his sister, Jane Wolken of St. Louis, MO., and daughter Perry Kees of Franklin, TN. He will be deeply missed by those very special local friends who had a chance to know his smile. At Courtney’s request, cremation has taken place and no services will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, Montrose, Co.
